General Motors Colmotores S.A. is a Colombian automobile manufacturer based in Bogotá and has been the local subsidiary of General Motors since 1979. Established in 1957 as "Fábrica Colombiana de Automotores S.A." (shortened "Colmotores)", they began manufacturing Austin vehicles under license of BMC . In 1965, US-based corporation Chrysler took a 60% stake in the company, which manufactured Chrysler cars under license until 1979.
