112-568: R.D. Reynolds and Merle Vincent launched the site in April 2000 and it quickly developed a following among wrestling fans. After Vincent's suicide in September 2000, Reynolds continued to run the site by himself. He shut the site down in 2001, claiming the high cost of running the site was responsible. It returned the following year, albeit without the backlog of past inductions. In 2006, the site added several new writers and features. WrestleCrap

224-505: A babyface , but later turned heel when he began being managed by "Gentleman" Jonathan Sayers. Tenta left AJPW in September 1989. After making two dark-match appearances under his real name in March 1989, Tenta joined the WWF full-time in September 1989. In his first match after signing on, a dark match on September 21, 1989, he portrayed a lumberjack character named Earthquake Evans that

336-410: A cisplatin -containing drug combination (gemcitabine plus cisplatin; or methotrexate , vinblastine, doxorubicin , and cisplatin) improves survival an addition 5 to 10%. Those with certain types of lower-risk disease may instead receive bladder-sparing therapy. People with just a single tumor at the back of the bladder can undergo partial cystectomy , with the tumor and surrounding area removed, and

448-567: A dark match prior to a taping of SmackDown ! . After leaving WWF, Tenta wrestled on the independent circuit , also working in England and Canada. He returned to All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) in November 2002 where he finished up his career in July 2003, being a part of the company's Pro Wrestling Love era . At this time, Tenta (dressed in his Earthquake singlet) became a top gaijin during

560-481: A No Contest when the top ring rope fell off. On the October 4 edition of Heat , The Oddities defeated The Headbangers . On the October 17 edition of Shotgun Saturday Night , Golga and Kurrgan defeated Too Much . On the October 18 edition of Heat , The Oddities defeated Los Boricuas ( Jose Estrada , Miguel Pérez, Jr. and Jesus Castillo ). On the October 25 edition of Heat , Golga lost to Jeff Jarrett . On

672-496: A Six-Man Tag Team match with Mr. T as the special referee. At Starrcade , Avalanche lost to Sting by disqualification. At SuperBrawl V , Avalanche and Big Bubba Rogers lost to Sting and Randy Savage when Sting pinned Avalanche. At Uncensored , Avalanche lost to Randy Savage by disqualification. At Clash of the Champions XXX , Avalanche lost to Sting with The Guardian Angel as the special guest referee. The Avalanche name

784-546: A battle of two former sumo wrestlers. Kitao and Tenta broke kayfabe by being uncooperative with each other. Kitao didn't sell Earthquake's attacks and shot on him. The match ended when Kitao was disqualified for kicking the referee. After the match, Kitao immediately grabbed a microphone and began telling the audience that wrestling is fake and that Tenta never could really beat him, as other Japanese wrestlers attempted to restrain him. The incident led to Kitao being fired from SWS. After WrestleMania VII, Earthquake instigated

896-661: A dark match. After his feud with Rogers, Tenta left WCW and resurfaced in the WWF on the May 25, 1998, episode of Raw is War under the name Golga . He wrestled under a gold mask as one of the Oddities and the character had a fascination with Eric Cartman from the TV series South Park . The gimmick was given to Tenta because he lost a considerable amount of weight, so much so that the WWF thought it wouldn't be believable for Tenta to reprise

1008-486: A device up the urethra in a process called "transurethral resection of bladder tumor" (TURBT). All tumors are removed, as well as a piece of the underlying bladder muscle. Removed tissue is examined by a pathologist to determine if it is cancerous. If the tumor is removed incompletely, or is determined to be particularly high risk, a repeat TURBT is performed 4 to 6 weeks later to detect and remove any additional tumors. Bladder tumors are classified by their appearance under

1120-417: A favorable outcome (5-year survival is 95% vs. 69% of muscle invasive bladder cancer). However, 70% of them will have a recurrence after initial treatment with 30% of them presenting with muscle invasive disease. Recurrence and progression to a higher disease stage have a less favorable outcome. Survival after radical cystectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection is dependent on the pathological stage. If

1232-538: A feud with Jake "the Snake" Roberts , when in their match that aired on WWF Superstars of Wrestling , he "squashed" Damien with his Earthquake splashes; Earthquake had tied up Roberts in the ropes before going on his rampage. In reality, Roberts' bag – one of two left at ringside for the match – contained pantyhose stuffed with hamburger, and a small motor to simulate a "live snake." When the match aired on WWF Superstars of Wrestling , footage of Earthquake landing on Damien

1344-429: A heel. He loved children and he loved playing with them and having them sit on his knee, yet when he would go to airports and have kids crying and running away from him, it actually really upset him! When Quake turned face in 1992, the world saw the real John Tenta. The smile when he would come to the ring, the cheers he got from everyone and when the kids finally saw him as a good guy, it warmed his heart. When he won

1456-411: A high risk for getting diagnosed with a psychiatric illness post-treatment. People with psychiatric illness post treatment seem to have worse cancer specific and overall survival. Around 500,000 people are diagnosed with bladder cancer each year, and 200,000 die of the disease. This makes bladder cancer the tenth most commonly diagnosed cancer, and the thirteenth cause of cancer deaths. Bladder cancer

1568-489: A match with the Dungeon of Doom's Giant, Big Bubba Rogers, who had just joined the Dungeon, shaved half of Tenta's head. Tenta said he wouldn't shave off the other half because he looked in the mirror and relived the embarrassment. He would go out to get the mail and his neighbors would laugh. The two went on to feud against one another, with Rogers shaving off Tenta's beard as well after Tenta lost another match to The Giant. On

1680-569: A median survival of 3–6 months without chemotherapy. Cisplatin -based chemotherapy has increased the median survival to 15-months. However, the 5-year survival is still 15%. There are several prognostic factors which determine cancer specific survival after radical cystectomy. Factor with detrimental effect of cancer specific survival are old age, higher tumor grade and pathological stage, lymph node metastasis , presence of lymphovascular invasion and positive soft tissue margin. Lymph node density (positive lymph nodes/total lymph nodes observed in

1792-546: A member of The Natural Disasters with personal friend, Typhoon . His professional wrestling career also encompassed runs in World Championship Wrestling , where he was known as Avalanche and The Shark , All Japan Pro Wrestling and a return to WWF as Golga . Tenta died in 2006 after a long battle with bladder cancer . John Tenta was born in Surrey, British Columbia . Named after his father, he

1904-594: A parent or sibling with the disease. The exception is in families with Lynch syndrome or Cowden disease , which have increased risk of developing several cancers, including bladder cancer. Large population studies have identified several gene variants that each slightly increase bladder cancer risk. Most of these are variants in genes involved in metabolism of carcinogens ( NAT2 , GSTM1 , and UGT1A6 ), controlling cell growth ( TP63 , CCNE1 , MYC , and FGFR3 ), or repairing DNA damage ( NBN , XRCC1 and 3 , and ERCC2 , 4 , and 5 ). Several studies have examined

2016-545: A physical examination that can involve a digital rectal exam and pelvic exam , where a doctor feels the pelvic area for unusual masses that could be tumors. Severe bladder tumors often shed cells into the urine; these can be detected by urine cytology , where cells are collected from a urine sample, and viewed under a microscope . Cytology can detect around two thirds of high-grade tumors, but detects just 1 in 8 low-grade tumors. Additional urine tests can be used to detect molecules associated with bladder cancer. Some detect

2128-529: A poorer prognosis. This difference in outcomes is attributed to numerous factors such as, difference in carcinogen exposure, genetics , social and quality of care. One of the common signs of bladder cancer is hematuria and is quite often misdiagnosed as urinary tract infection in women, leading to a delay in diagnosis. Smoking can only partially explain this higher rates in men in western hemisphere. In Africa , men are more prone to do field work and are exposed to infection with Schistosoma , this may explain to

2240-482: A relaunch of the site, complete with more daily content and interactive features. The relaunch took place in January 2013. In December 2016, the entire site archive was made available for users who made a one-time donation to the site, or supported the site on Patreon . Braxton died in March 2021. The Gooker Award is given each year to the worst gimmick, storyline, match or event in wrestling in that year. The award

2352-516: A short feud with Yokozuna , with whom he had a sumo match on Raw (the early days of Tenta's Sumo training were also revealed). Tenta won the sumo match. Earthquake was scheduled to face Owen Hart in a King of the Ring qualifying match. However, during a May 14, 1994 house show in San Jose, California , Earthquake had been injured by Yokozuna and Crush . Footage of Yokozuna hitting a Banzai Drop at

2464-475: A strength competition. In order to demonstrate, Bravo and manager Jimmy Hart suggested that they pick a random audience member to come into the ring and sit on the backs of Bravo and the Ultimate Warrior as they did push-ups to see who could do the most. The Ultimate Warrior agreed, and Hart, after pretending to look around the audience, centered his attention on the very large Tenta who was sitting in

2576-536: A team composed of Irwin R. Schyster and Ted DiBiase ; Money Inc. had just won the tag titles from the Legion of Doom, and at WrestleMania VIII , they defeated Money Inc. by count-out but did not win the titles. Although Earthquake and Typhoon eventually won the tag titles (and defeated the Beverly Brothers at the 1992 SummerSlam pay-per-view to retain the titles), it wasn't long before Money Inc. regained

2688-529: A tour of Japan for UWF International , where he teamed up with Super Vader . Tenta was introduced as Avalanche and was a member of Kevin Sullivan 's The Three Faces of Fear , billed at 517lbs. He later aligned with Big Bubba Rogers and feuded with Sting and Randy Savage. At Clash of the Champions XXIX , Avalanche, The Butcher and Kevin Sullivan lost to Hulk Hogan, Sting and Dave Sullivan in

2800-426: A tumor that has not spread; M1 to one that has. The TNM scores are combined to determine the cancer case's stage on a scale of 0 to 4, with a higher stage representing a more extensive cancer with a poorer prognosis. Around 75% of cases are confined to the bladder at the time of diagnosis (T scores: Tis, Ta, or T1), and are called non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Around 18% have tumors that have spread into

2912-523: Is transitional cell carcinoma . Other types include squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma . Diagnosis is typically by cystoscopy with tissue biopsies . Staging of the cancer is determined by transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) and medical imaging . Treatment depends on the stage of the cancer . It may include some combination of surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy , or immunotherapy . Surgical options may include transurethral resection, partial or complete removal of

3024-859: Is also commonly linked to bladder cancer risk. Chronic bladder infections can increase one's risk of developing bladder cancer. Most prominent is schistosomiasis , in which the eggs of the flatworm Schistosoma haematobium can become lodged in the bladder wall, causing chronic bladder inflammation and repeated bladder infections. In places with endemic schistosomiasis, up to 16% of bladder cancer cases are caused by prior Schistosoma infection. Worms can be cleared by treatment with praziquantel , which reduces bladder cancer cases in schistosomiasis endemic areas. Similarly, those with long-term indwelling catheters are at risk for repeated urinary tract infections, and have increased risk of developing bladder cancer. Some medical treatments are also known to increase bladder cancer risk. As many as 16% of those treated with

3136-462: Is also imaged for tumors that could cause blood in the urine. This is typically done by injecting a dye into the blood that the kidneys will filter into the urinary tract, then imaging by computed tomography scanning . Those whose kidneys are not functioning well enough to filter the dye may instead be scanned by magnetic resonance imaging . Alternatively, the upper urinary tract can be imaged with ultrasound. Suspected tumors are removed by threading

3248-488: Is also the title of a book written by the site's creators, with an introduction by John Tenta ( ISBN   1-55022-584-7 ). In addition, Reynolds has co-authored The Death of WCW , with wrestling journalist Bryan Alvarez , and he co-wrote The WrestleCrap Book of Lists! with Blade Braxton, released in late 2007. Both Reynolds and Alvarez were previously featured columnists for British pro wrestling and MMA magazine Fighting Spirit . In December 2012, Reynolds announced

3360-440: Is any of several types of cancer arising from the tissues of the urinary bladder . Symptoms include blood in the urine , pain with urination , and low back pain. It is caused when epithelial cells that line the bladder become malignant. Risk factors for bladder cancer include smoking , family history, prior pelvic radiation therapy , frequent bladder infections , and exposure to certain chemicals. The most common type

3472-912: Is combination treatment with the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin and gemcitabine . The average person on this combination survives around a year, though 15% experience remission, with survival over five years. Around half of those with metastatic bladder cancer are in too poor health to receive cisplatin. They instead receive the related drug carboplatin along with gemcitabine; the average person on this regimen survives around 9 months. Those whose disease responds to chemotherapy benefit from switching to immune checkpoint inhibitors pembrolizumab or atezolizumab ("Tecentriq") for long-term maintenance therapy . Immune checkpoint inhibitors are also commonly given to those whose tumors do not respond to chemotherapy, as well as those in too poor health to receive chemotherapy. Those whose tumors continue to grow after platinum chemotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors can receive

3584-1214: Is common in bladder cancer. Low grade cancer are known to harbor mutations in RAS pathway and the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) gene, both of which play a role in the MAPK/ERK pathway . p53 and RB gene mutations are implicated in high-grade muscle invasive tumors. Eighty nine percent of muscle invasive cancers have mutations in chromatin remodeling and histone modifying genes. Muscle invasive bladder cancer are heterogeneous in nature. In general, they can be genetically classified into basal and luminal subtypes. Basal subtype show alterations involving RB and NFE2L2 and luminal type show changes in FGFR3 and KDM6A genes. Basal subtype are subdivided into basal and claudin low-type group and are aggressive and show metastasis at presentation, however they respond to platinum based chemotherapy. Luminal subtype can be subdivided into p53-like and luminal. p53-like tumors of luminal subtype although not as aggressive as basal type, show resistance to chemotherapy People with non-muscle invasive tumors have

3808-507: Is most common in wealthier regions of the world, where exposure to certain carcinogens is highest. It is also common in places where schistosome infection is common, such as North Africa. Bladder cancer is much more common in men than women; around 1.1% of men and 0.27% of women develop bladder cancer. This makes bladder cancer the sixth most common cancer in men, and the seventeenth in women. When women are diagnosed with bladder cancer, they tend to have more advanced disease and consequently

3920-536: Is most sensitive to papillary tumors (tumors with a finger-like shape that grow into the urine-holding part of the bladder); it is less sensitive to small, low-lying carcinoma in situ (CIS). CIS detection is improved by blue light cystoscopy , where a dye ( hexaminolevulinate ) that accumulates in cancer cells is injected into the bladder during cystoscopy. The dye fluoresces when the cystoscope shines blue light on it, allowing for more sensitive detection of small tumors. The upper urinary tract ( ureters and kidney )

4032-417: Is named after The Gobbledy Gooker , widely thought of as one of the most disastrous wrestling gimmicks of all time. The 2001 award was not revealed until 2003 due to WrestleCrap 's closing in 2001. Each year's Gooker Award, with the exceptions of 2001 and 2002, was determined by a poll of site visitors. The 2001 and 2002 awards were chosen by Reynolds, since he felt there was no competition those years. For

4144-441: Is primarily treated by surgically removing all tumors by TURBT in the same procedure used to collect biopsy tissue for diagnosis. For those with a relatively low risk of tumors recurring, a single dose of chemotherapy ( mitomycin C , epirubicin , or gemcitabine ) injected into the bladder within 24 hours of TURBT reduces the risk of tumor occurrence by about 39%. Those with higher risk are instead treated with bladder injections of

4256-546: Is used in Europe, while paclitaxel , docetaxel , and pemetrexed are used in the United States; only a minority of those treated improve on these therapies. People with bone metastasis should receive bisphosphonates or denosumab to prevent skeletal related events (e.g. fractures , spinal cord compression , bone pain). Contrast enhanced CT is used to monitor lung, liver, and lymph node metastases. A bone scan

4368-659: Is used to detect and monitor bone metastasis. Treatment response is measured using the Response evaluation criteria in solid tumors ( RECIST ) into one of the following groups; response (complete or partial), stable disease and progressive disease. Bladder cancer is caused by changes to the DNA of bladder cells that result in those cells growing uncontrollably. These changes can be random, or can be induced by exposure to toxic substances such as those from consuming tobacco. Genetic damage accumulates over many years, eventually disrupting

4480-486: The 1989 Survivor Series . Earthquake eliminated Hercules and survived the match, along with Savage and Dino Bravo. He made his WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hercules . Tenta's career peaked when he entered a feud with Hulk Hogan . The feud exploded in May 1990, when Earthquake snuck up on Hogan from behind during a segment of The Brother Love Show (on WWF Superstars of Wrestling ) and repeatedly crushed Hogan's ribs with his " Earthquake splash ." It

4592-494: The American Joint Committee on Cancer . A tumor is assigned three scores based on the extent of the primary tumor (T), its spread to nearby lymph nodes (N), and metastasis to distant sites (M). The T score represents the extent of the original tumor: Ta or Tis for tumors that are confined to the innermost layer of the bladder; T1 for tumors that extend into the bladder's connective tissue; T2 for extension into

4704-462: The BCG vaccine (a live bacterial vaccine, traditionally used for tuberculosis ), administered weekly for six weeks. This nearly halves the rate of tumor recurrence. Recurrence risk is further reduced by a series of "maintenance" BCG injections, given regularly for at least a year. Those whose tumors recur may receive a second round of BCG injections. Tumors that do not respond to BCG may be treated with

4816-745: The Sega Genesis version). In 2004, the Japanese video game developer Spike released King of Colosseum II , a puroresu -wrestling game for PlayStation 2 that featured Tenta as a playable character; it was a Japan-only release. On April 14, 2009, Tenta was announced as downloadable content for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 which was released April 16, 2009. On February 23, 2016, he along with Typhoon appeared as downloadable content for WWE 2K16 . He also appeared in WWE 2K17 as well as WWE 2K18 along with Typhoon. Bladder cancer Bladder cancer

4928-583: The antibody drug conjugate enfortumab vedotin ("Padcev", targets tumor cells with the protein nectin-4 ). Enfortumab vedotin in combination with pembrolizumab can also be used as a first-line therapy in place of chemotherapy. Those with genetic alterations that activate the proteins FGFR2 or FGFR3 (around 20% of those with metastatic bladder cancer) can also benefit from the FGFR inhibitor erdafitinib ("Balversa"). Bladder cancer that continues growing can be treated with second-line chemotherapies. Vinflunine

5040-407: The ileum (part of the small intestine) is removed and used to transport urine from the ureters to a new surgical opening ( stoma ) in the abdomen. Urine drains passively into an ostomy bag worn outside the body, which can be emptied regularly by the wearer. Alternatively, one can have a continent urinary diversion , where the ureters are attached to a piece of ileum that includes the valve between

5152-480: The 10 year anniversary of WrestleCrap Radio , a new episode of Reynolds and Braxton's occasional RD and Blade Show podcast was instead revealed to be the surprise 250th episode of WrestleCrap Radio . Episode 251 was released ten days later on August 30, followed by two more episodes each in September and October. The show was retired following Braxton's death in March 2021. John Tenta John Anthony Tenta Jr. (June 22, 1963 – June 7, 2006)

5264-502: The 2014 award, Reynolds declared that Vince McMahon's comments about "brass rings" and the Bella Twins feud were co-winners due to irregularities in the voting. In August 2005, WrestleCrap introduced a podcast called WrestleCrap Radio . Typically Reynolds and columnist Blade Braxton discussed their personal lives, made jokes that may or may not relate to current wrestling (or wrestling at all), and rarely discussed news items from

5376-552: The Earthquake gimmick with the weight loss. On the July 28 edition of Raw is War , he defeated Marc Mero . At SummerSlam , The Oddities defeated Kaientai ( Taka Michinoku , Dick Togo , Mens Teioh and Sho Funaki ) in a Handicap match. On the September 5 edition of Raw Saturday Night Raw, The Oddities defeated the L.O.D and Droz in a six-man tag team match. On the September 12 edition of Raw Saturday Night , The Oddities faced The Disciples of Apocalypse which ended in

5488-504: The January 10, 1999 edition of Heat The Oddities (Golga and Kurrgan) got their revenge and defeated The Headbangers. Throughout the rest of January and February, The Oddities would lose to Too Much and The Disciples of Apocalypse on Heat and Shotgun Saturday Night . At the 1999 Royal Rumble , Golga competed in the Royal Rumble match entering at number 3 and quickly eliminated by Steve Austin . The last appearance of The Oddities

5600-641: The June 17 episode of Nitro , Tenta defeated Big Bubba. On the July 1, 1996 edition of Nitro , Tenta got another shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against The Giant but failed to win the title. At Bash at the Beach 1996 , Tenta defeated Big Bubba in a Carson City Silver Dollar match. During this time, Tenta began using "One Crazed Anarchist" as his entrance theme , which would later be adopted by Chris Jericho . Following

5712-574: The LSU campus, he was also referred to as a "silent giant." Tenta also played rugby union for the LSU Rugby Club. Tenta then moved to Japan to pursue a career in sumo after being recruited by a former yokozuna who met Tenta on a trip to Vancouver. In October 1985, he joined a sumo stable , Sadogatake , run by former yokozuna Kotozakura Masakatsu (his stable also produced ōzeki Kotoōshū Katsunori from Bulgaria ). Following tradition,

Tenta came down into the ring, identified himself as "John from West Virginia " and proceeded to sit on Bravo's back as he did a set of push-ups. During the Ultimate Warrior's set, however, Tenta leapt down onto the prone Ultimate Warrior using a seated senton that was adapted to be his signature move. Bravo and Tenta then beat and unleashed multiple big splashes on

6384-604: The belts. Tenta left the WWF in January 1993 after losing via count-out to Bam Bam Bigelow the night after the Royal Rumble for a spell in Japan for WAR . He also had a brief stint in CMLL in late 1993. He returned to the WWF in January 1994 when he assisted Bret Hart in a match with Shawn Michaels by countering Diesel's interference. He defeated Adam Bomb in a quick squash match at WrestleMania X . He then engaged in

6496-399: The bladder and surrounding organs, called radical cystectomy . The bladder, several adjacent lymph nodes , the lower ureters , and nearby genital organs – in men the prostate and seminal vesicles ; in women the uterus and part of the vaginal wall – are all removed. Surgeons construct a new way for urine to leave the body. The most common method is by ileal conduit , where a piece of

6608-452: The bladder at the time of diagnosis. Bladder cancer most commonly spreads to the bones, lungs, liver, and nearby lymph nodes ; tumors cause different symptoms in each location. People whose cancer has metastasized to the bones most often experience bone pain or bone weakness that increases the risk of fractures . Lung tumors can cause persistent cough, coughing up blood , breathlessness, or recurrent chest infections. Cancer that has spread to

6720-426: The bladder muscle (T2, T3, or T4), and are called muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). Around 3% have tumors that have spread to organs far from the bladder, and are called metastatic bladder cancer. Those with more extensive tumor spread tend to have a poorer prognosis. The treatment of bladder cancer depends on the tumor's shape, size, and location, as well as the affected person's health and preferences. NMIBC

6832-470: The bladder muscle) or small-cell cancer (from neuroendocrine cells ), both of which are relatively rare. The pathologist also grades the tumor sample based on how distinct the cancerous cells look from healthy cells. Bladder cancer is divided into either low-grade (more similar to healthy cells) or high-grade (less similar). Each bladder cancer case is assigned a stage based on the TNM system defined by

6944-668: The bladder repaired. Those with no CIS or urinary blockage may undergo TURBT to remove visible tumors, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy ; around two thirds of these people are permanently cured. After treatment, surveillance tests – urine and blood tests, and MRI or CT scans – are done every three to six months to look for evidence that tumors may be recurring. Those who have retained their bladder also receive cystoscopies to look for additional bladder tumors. Recurrent bladder tumors are treated with radical cystectomy. Tumor recurrences elsewhere are treated as metastatic bladder cancer. The standard of care for metastatic bladder cancer

7056-439: The bladder, or urinary diversion . The typical five-year survival rates in the United States is 77%, Canada is 75%, and Europe is 68%. Bladder cancer, as of 2018, affected about 1.6 million people globally with 549,000 new cases and 200,000 deaths. Age of onset is most often between 65 and 84 years of age. Males are more often affected than females, with the lifetime risk in males being 1.1% and 0.27% in females. In 2018,

7168-490: The chemotherapeutic cyclophosphamide go on to develop bladder cancer within 15 years of their treatment. Similarly, those treated with pelvic radiation (typically for prostate or cervical cancer) are at increased risk of developing bladder cancer five to 15 years after treatment. Long-term use of the medication pioglitazone for type 2 diabetes may increase bladder cancer risk. Bladder cancer does not typically run in families; 4% of those diagnosed with bladder cancer have

7280-894: The death of the affected person. Tobacco smoking is the main contributor to bladder cancer risk; around half of bladder cancer cases are estimated to be caused by smoking. Tobacco contains carcinogenic molecules that enter the blood and are filtered by the kidneys into the urine. There they can cause damage to the DNA of bladder cells, eventually leading to cancer. Bladder cancer risk rises both with number of cigarettes smoked per day, and with duration of smoking habit. Those who smoke also tend to have worse courses of bladder cancer, with an increased risk of treatment failure, metastasis, and death. The risk of developing bladder cancer decreases in those who quit smoking , falling up to 30% after five years of smoking abstention. Cancer risk continues to fall over time with smoking abstention, but never returns to

7392-426: The disease has not spread to the lymph node and is limited to the bladder (T1 or T2, N0) the 5-year survival is 78%. If it has spread locally around the region of the bladder with no lymph node involved (T3, N0) then the 5-year survival drops to 47%. In disease with lymph node spread (N+, irrespective of T stage) the 5-year survival is 31%. Locally advanced and metastatic disease drastically decreases survival, with

7504-399: The disease. Some instead have "microscopic haematuria" – small amounts of blood in the urine that can only be seen under a microscope during urinalysis – pain while urinating, or no symptoms at all (their tumors are detected during unrelated medical imaging ). Less commonly, a tumor can block the flow of urine into the bladder, causing pain along the flank of the body (between the ribs and

7616-461: The final two participants in the 1991 Royal Rumble , with Hogan getting the victory. After his stint with Hogan, Earthquake attained another WrestleMania victory, defeating former Hart stable mate Greg Valentine at WrestleMania VII . 7728-506: The higher-level competitions. In Japan, tattoos are associated with gangsters , and public display is widely prohibited. Tenta's decision to quit was criticized by his stablemaster, while the head of the Japan Sumo Association Kasugano (the former yokozuna Tochinishiki ), said Tenta had become arrogant after his run of consecutive victories. "He thought it would be easy. But there is no job in this world that

7840-573: The highest rate of bladder cancer occurred in Southern and Western Europe followed by North America with rates of 15, 13, and 12 cases per 100,000 people. The highest rates of bladder cancer deaths were seen in Northern Africa and Western Asia followed by Southern Europe. The most common symptom of bladder cancer is visible blood in the urine (haematuria) despite painless urination. This affects around 75% of people eventually diagnosed with

7952-433: The hips). Most people with blood in the urine do not have bladder cancer; up to 22% of those with visible haematuria and 5% with microscopic haematuria are diagnosed with the disease. Women with bladder cancer and haematuria are often misdiagnosed with urinary tract infections , delaying appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Around 3% of people with bladder cancer have tumors that have already spread (metastasized) outside

8064-707: The impact of various lifestyle factors on the risk of developing bladder cancer. A 2018 summary of evidence from the World Cancer Research Fund and American Institute for Cancer Research concluded that there is "limited, suggestive evidence" that consumption of tea, and a diet high in fruits and vegetables reduce a person's risk of developing bladder cancer. They also considered available data on exercise, body fat, and consumption of dairy, red meat, fish, grains, legumes, eggs, fats, soft drinks, alcohol, juices, caffeine, sweeteners, and various vitamins and minerals; for each they found insufficient data to link

8176-511: The level of those who have never smoked. Because development of bladder cancer takes many years, it is not yet known if use of electronic cigarettes carries the same risk as smoking tobacco; however, those who use electronic cigarettes have higher levels of some urinary carcinogens than those who do not. Up to 10% of bladder cancer cases are caused by workplace exposure to toxic chemicals. Exposure to certain aromatic amines , namely benzidine , beta-naphthylamine , and ortho-toluidine used in

8288-430: The lifestyle factor to bladder cancer risk. Several other studies have indicated a slight increased risk of developing bladder cancer in those who are overweight or obese , as well as a slight decrease in risk for those who undertake high levels of physical activity. Several studies have investigated a link between levels of fluid intake and bladder cancer risk – testing the theory that high fluid intake dilutes toxins in

8400-549: The line "I'm not the Shark. I'm not a fish. I'm not an Avalanche. I'm a man". On the May 27 episode of Nitro , Shark lost to The Giant in a match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. On the June 3 episode of Nitro , Tenta defeated Big Bubba by count-out. At the 1996 Great American Bash , he defeated Big Bubba Rogers; after the match Tenta cut Rogers' goatee off with a pair of scissors. On

8512-423: The liver can cause general malaise , loss of appetite, weight loss, abdominal pain or swelling , jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), and skin itch. Spread to nearby lymph nodes can cause pain and swelling around the affected lymph nodes, typically in the abdomen or groin. Those suspected of having bladder cancer can undergo several tests to assess the presence and extent of any tumors. First, many undergo

8624-737: The location of the tumors. Tumors on the superolateral bladder wall spread to external iliac lymph nodes . Tumors on the neck, anterior wall and fundus spread commonly to the internal iliac lymph nodes. From the regional lymph nodes (i.e. obturator, internal and external lymph nodes) the cancer spreads to distant sites like the common iliac lymph nodes and paraaortic lymph nodes . Skipped lymph node lesions are not seen in bladder cancer. Mutations in FGFR3 , TP53 , PIK3CA , KDM6A , ARID1A , KMT2D , HRAS , TERT , KRAS , CREBBP , RB1 and TSC1 genes may be associated with some cases of bladder cancer. Deletions of parts or whole of chromosome 9

8736-534: The meat was ground from Damien's carcass. Heenan had already eaten three or four of the Burgers and Hayes was curious about the meat. Earthquake mentioned the animal from which the meat was taken rhymed with quake and Hayes said they were snake burgers. Hayes got sick and nearly threw up. Vince was angry over this and knocked the tray out of Earthquake's hands which knocked all the burgers onto the floor. Roberts and Earthquake feuded throughout most of late-spring and into

8848-510: The metalworking and dye industries, can increase the risk of bladder cancer in metalworkers, dye producers, painters, printers, hairdressers, and textiles workers. The International Agency for Research on Cancer further classifies rubber processing, aluminum production, and firefighting as occupations that increase one's risk of developing bladder cancer. Exposure to arsenic – either through workplace exposure or through drinking water in places where arsenic naturally contaminates groundwater –

8960-528: The microscope, and by their cell type of origin. Over 90% of bladder tumors arise from the cells that form the bladder's inner lining, called urothelial cells or transitional cells; the tumor is then classified as urothelial cancer or transitional cell cancer . Around 5% of cases are squamous cell cancer (from a rarer cell in the bladder lining), particularly common in places with schistosomiasis . Up to 2% of cases are adenocarcinoma (from mucus -producing gland cells). The remaining cases are sarcomas (from

9072-416: The muscle; T3 for extension through the muscle into the surrounding fatty tissue; and T4 for extension fully outside the bladder. The N score represents spread to nearby lymph nodes: N0 for no spread; N1 for spread to a single nearby lymph node; N2 for spread to several nearby lymph nodes; N3 for spread to more distant lymph nodes outside the pelvis. The M score designates spread to more distant organs: M0 for

9184-404: The normal functioning of bladder cells and causing them to grow uncontrollably into a lump of cells called a tumor. Cancers cells accumulate further DNA changes as they multiply, which can allow the tumor to evade the immune system , resist regular cell death pathways , and eventually spread to distant body sites. The new tumors that form in various organs damage those organs, eventually causing

9296-448: The prone Warrior. Both then celebrated as Tenta was inaugurated into the WWF as a heel with Hart as his manager. Tenta was pushed as The Canadian Earthquake – and by WrestleMania VI , simply Earthquake – an unstoppable monster heel who often sent his opponents out on a stretcher after repeatedly hitting them with his sitdown splash. 9408-427: The proteins bladder tumor antigen or NMP22 that tend to be elevated in the urine of those with bladder cancer; some detect mRNA of tumor-associated genes; some use fluorescence microscopy to detect cancerous cells more sensitively than regular cytology. Many also undergo cystoscopy , wherein a flexible camera is threaded up the urethra and into the bladder to visually inspect for cancerous tissue. Cystoscopy

9520-518: The show was televised before the qualifying match to explain his absence in which Doink the Clown was his replacement. Hulk Hogan , a longtime friend, lobbied to have Tenta come in, and so Tenta left the WWF to join WCW. Before joining WCW, Tenta worked

9632-399: The small and large intestine; this valve naturally closes, allowing urine to be retained in the body rather than in an ostomy bag. The affected person empties the new urine reservoir serveral times each day by self-catheterization – passing a narrow tube through the stoma. Some can instead have the piece of ileum attached directly to the urethra, allowing the affected person to urinate through

9744-856: The small intestine can result in reduced vitamin B12 absorption, which can be treated with oral vitamin B12 supplementation. Issues with the new urine system can cause urinary retention, which can damage the ureters and kidneys and increase one's risk of urinary tract infection. Those not well enough or unwilling to undergo radical cystectomy may instead benefit from further bladder injections of chemotherapy – mitomycin C, gemcitabine, docetaxel , or valrubicin – or intravenous injection of pembrolizumab. Around 1 in 5 people with NMIBC will eventually progress to MIBC. Most people with muscle-invasive bladder cancer are treated with radical cystectomy, which cures around half of those affected. Treating with chemotherapy prior to surgery (called " neoadjuvant therapy ") using

9856-746: The specimen from surgery) is a predictor of survival in lymph node positive disease. Higher the density lower is the survival. After radical cystectomy, urinary and sexual function remain inferior to the general population. People who have a neobladder have better emotional function and body image compared with ones with cutaneous diversion (who need to wear a bag to collect urine over their abdomen). Social factors such as family, relationships, health and finances contribute significantly for determining good quality of life in people who have been diagnosed with bladder cancer. A high percentage of people with bladder cancer have anxiety and depression . People who are young, single and have advanced clinical disease have

9968-473: The sport due to the difficulty of the sumo lifestyle and the toll the hard ring surface was taking on his body. Tenta commented, "Nothing I have ever done – not football, not college wrestling – compares with the kind of physical abuse you inflict on your body in sumo." 10304-454: The surgical wound (15%). Around 25% of those who undergo the surgery end up readmitted to the hospital within 30 days; up to 2% die within 30 days of the surgery. Rerouting the ureters can also cause permanent metabolic issues. The piece of ileum used to reroute urine flow can absorb more ammonium chloride from the urine than the original bladder would, resulting in metabolic acidosis , which can be treated with sodium bicarbonate . Shortening

10416-468: The tag titles, the look of elation on his face was so pure and genuine. When he finally got to be the good guy outside the ring, he really loved the reaction he got and backstage everyone in the back respected the hell out of John and we were all crushed when he passed away." - Bret Hart According to some sumo publications, former sumo wrestlers rejected what Kasguano said about Tenta.
