Lian River ( simplified Chinese : 练江 ; traditional Chinese : 練江 ; pinyin : Lianjiang ) is a river in southeast China that flows into the South China Sea . It is located in the municipality of Jieyang and Shantou , in Southern China's Guangdong Province and has a total length of 72 kilometres (45 mi). It is one of the most polluted rivers in China.
