Yeongdong ( Korean pronunciation: [jʌŋ.doŋ] , Korean pronunciation: [ɾjɔŋ.dɤŋ] , literally 'east of the passes') is the eastern, coastal region of Gangwon Province, South Korea and Kangwŏn Province, North Korea . It is divided from the inland Yeongseo region by the Taebaek Mountains .
