Chonburi ( Thai : ชลบุรี , RTGS :  Chon Buri , IAST : jalapurī , pronounced [tɕ͡ʰōn bū.rīː] ) is the capital of Chonburi Province and, as part of the district Mueang Chonburi , the seventh-largest city in Thailand . It is about 100 km southeast of Bangkok , on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand , and has an urban population of 342,959. Its name means 'city of water'.
