18-437: Ancient temples were temporarily built temples. According to legend, the first "Kapil Muni Temple" was built by Queen Satyabhama in 430 AD. The last temporary temple was built with bamboo. The bamboo temple was destroyed in the late 50s or early 60s. The first brick-built temple was built in 1961 for Rs 20,000, and the roof of the temple was made of asbestos . The former Chief Minister Bidhan Chandra Roy contributed Rs 11,000 to

36-404: A zeolite mineral with similar properties to asbestos , but detailed epidemiological investigation demonstrated that the substance causes the disease mostly in families with a genetic predisposition to mineral fiber carcinogenesis. The studies are being extended to other parts of the region. Peritoneal mesothelioma has two clinical types which can be differentiated with the help of CT findings,

54-593: A complementary fashion, and this multifaceted approach has significantly improved outcomes when compared to intravenous chemotherapy alone. For instance, the reported median survival time for patients with stage IV mesothelioma as reported by the American Cancer Society is 12 months; however, with adequate cytoreduction, intraperitoneal, and intravenous chemotherapy combined, some authors report 10-year survival rates projected at nearly 75%. Multiple factors have been shown to be significant in predicting

72-419: A definitive diagnosis may be obtained through tissue biopsy . Given its rarity, there are no established guidelines for the treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma. The modern approach to malignant peritoneal mesothelioma includes cytoreductive surgery , hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), intraperitoneal chemotherapy , and intravenous chemotherapy. These are often used in conjunction and in

90-403: Is the name given to the cancer that attacks the lining of the abdomen . This type of cancer affects the lining that protects the contents of the abdomen and which also provides a lubricating fluid to enable the organs to move and work properly. The peritoneum is made of two parts, the visceral and parietal peritoneum . The visceral peritoneum covers the internal organs and makes up most of

108-399: The natural mineral fibrolite ), or AC sheet , is a composite building material consisting of cement and asbestos fibres pressed into thin rigid sheets and other shapes. Invented at the end of the 19th century, the material was adopted extensively during World War II to make easily-built, sturdy and inexpensive structures for military purposes. It continued to be used widely following

126-412: The "dry" type, and the "wet". It is classified as "dry" when there are multiple tiny masses or one dominant localized mass and generally little or no ascites . The "wet" type has widespread small nodules , no dominant mass, and a presence of ascites. If fluid is found, the process of eliminating it is through paracentesis ; however, the analysis of this fluid has limited diagnostic significance. Normally,

144-410: The body, symptoms may include pain, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the neck or face. As for other mesotheliomas , asbestos is a known cause of peritoneal mesothelioma in humans. A 1975 study of three small villages in central Cappadocia , Turkey —Tuzköy, Karain and Sarıhıdır—found that peritoneal mesothelioma was causing 50% of all deaths. Initially, this was attributed to erionite ,

162-542: The cleaning of fibro with pressure washers , because it can spread the embedded asbestos fibres over a wide area. Safer cleaning methods involve using a fungicide and a sealant. The 1973 song, " Way Out West ", by The Dingoes , later covered by James Blundell & James Reyne , mentions living in a "house made of fibro cement". Fibro is also referred to several times on the Australian TV show Housos . Peritoneal mesothelioma Peritoneal mesothelioma

216-548: The outcome and overall survival. Age greater than 60 at surgery, more overall disease burden (defined as a PCI Archived 2016-09-02 at the Wayback Machine greater than 15), complete cytoreduction (no visible disease), and epithelioid subtype pathology have all been shown to be predictors of both mortality and disease progression. These known predictors notwithstanding, many patients with advanced peritoneal mesothelioma are still surgical candidates, and even patients with

234-432: The outer layer of the intestinal tract. Covering the abdominal cavity is the parietal peritoneum. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include weight loss and abdominal pain and swelling due to a buildup of fluid in the abdomen. Other symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma may include bowel obstruction , blood clotting abnormalities, anemia , and fever . If the cancer has spread beyond the mesothelium to other parts of

252-566: The reemergence of wood clapboard and vinyl siding in the mid to late 20th century. Asbestos cement is usually formed into flat or corrugated sheets or into pipes, but can be molded into any shape that can be formed using wet cement. In Europe, cement sheets came in a wide variety of shapes, while there was less variation in the US, due to labor and production costs. Although fibro was used in a number of countries, in Australia and New Zealand its use

270-503: The surface deterioration of asbestos cement can release toxic airborne fibres. Exposure to asbestos causes or increases the risk of several life-threatening diseases, including asbestosis , pleural mesothelioma (lung), and peritoneal mesothelioma (abdomen). Safer asbestos-free fibre cement sheet is still readily available, but the reinforcing fibres are cellulose. The name "fibro" is still traditionally applied to fibre cement. Some Australian states, such as Queensland , prohibit

288-406: The temple and temple premises occasionally during High tide or cyclonic storms . A strong tropical cyclone named Yaas formed in the Bay of Bengal in late May 2021. Due to the impact of this storm, tidal water entered Kapil Muni's Ashram and temple. Asbestos cement Asbestos cement , genericized as fibro , fibrolite (short for "fibrous (or fibre) cement sheet"; but different from

306-512: The war as an affordable external cladding for buildings. Advertised as a fireproof alternative to other roofing materials such as asphalt , asbestos-cement roofs were popular, not only for safety but also for affordability. Due to asbestos cement's imitation of more expensive materials such as wood siding and shingles, brick , slate , and stone , the product was marketed as an affordable renovation material. Asbestos cement competed with aluminum alloy , available in large quantities after WWII, and

324-537: Was most widespread. Predominantly manufactured and sold by James Hardie until the mid-1980s, fibro in all its forms was a popular building material, largely due to its durability. The reinforcing fibres used in the product were almost always asbestos. The use of fibro that contains asbestos has been banned in several countries , including Australia, but as recently as 2016, the material was discovered in new components sold for construction projects. When exposed to weathering and erosion, particularly when used on roofs,
