The Speicherstadt ( German pronunciation: [ˈʃpaɪ̯çɐˌʃtat] , literally: 'City of Warehouses ', meaning warehouse district) in Hamburg , Germany , is the largest warehouse district in the world where the buildings stand on timber-pile foundations , oak logs, in this particular case.
