An āyah ( Arabic : آية , Arabic pronunciation: [ʔaː.ja] ; plural: آيات ʾāyāt ) is a "verse" in the Qur'an , one of the statements of varying length that make up the chapters ( suwar ) of the Qur'an and are marked by a number.
