38-520: One Textron TAPV demonstration vehicle was built in 2011. They have yet to see combat. Four pre-production vehicles have been delivered to the Canadian Army and have undergone various trials and training exercises with plans for an additional two to be delivered. First production vehicles were scheduled to be delivered in 2014, however deliveries were set back to begin in 2016 and will be completed in around 2018. The new vehicle will gradually replace

76-509: A 40–60% ethanol-diesel blend. The prototype was tested by Raízen, a joint venture between the cane sugar producer Cosan and Shell. In 2011, this prototype earned Iveco the "Prêmio Top Etanol" – for the alternative fuel technology. A prototype of a heat pump system for electric and hybrid vehicles was installed on the Iveco Daily vehicle. The system cools or heats the passenger compartment by transferring low-temperature heat generated by

114-406: A battery system powers an electric three-phase asynchronous motor – through the aid of an inverter – in charge of moving the vehicle directly while recovering energy during braking. The vehicle runs on two to four batteries made with Na/NiCl2 ( sodium-nickel chlorine ) technology at a nominal 278  Volts . The maximum velocity is electronically limited to 70 km/h, while the vehicle's range

152-451: A central tire inflation system to prevent flat tires during combat operations. The TAPV relies upon composite armour to provide the maximum protection to the vehicles occupants. The armour is stated as being 20% better than the armour on the M1117 . The TAPV also has a V-shaped hull, which provides protection against mine and improvised explosive device (IED) blasts. The vehicle also has

190-582: A diesel engine – smaller than that of a traditional vehicle – that acts as a battery charger. Iveco's range of light, medium and heavy vehicles and buses can run on methane. Methane makes it possible to save on consumption by 38% per kg transported as compared to that consumed by diesel engines for the same payload and distance travelled. In addition, compared to Euro VI diesel engines, methane engines reduce NOx emissions by approximately 60% and particulate emissions by approximately 70%. In April 2012 Iveco presented its first vehicle with this technology,

228-399: A high ground clearance, which increases protection from mine and IED blasts. It can withstand up to 10 kg of explosive force directly under its hull, and can resist even 12.7 mm armour-piercing rounds. Each of the seats in the vehicle are blast protected, and the vehicle has vented wheel wells to disperse the energy of an explosion out from the vehicle. The TAPV is slated to have

266-563: A publicly separated company named Iveco Group N.V. After the completion of the demerger, on 1 January 2022 Iveco became a part of Iveco Group N.V., the parent company of the trucks and speciality vehicles, powertrain and related financial services businesses previously held by CNH Industrial. As of 2023, the company forms part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices . Iveco has 27 production plants and 6 research centres located in 16 countries. Outside of Europe,

304-595: A remote weapons system based on the M151 Protector . The weapon system is called the Dual Remote Weapon System, and can mount both a C6 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun and either a HK GMG 40 mm automatic grenade launcher or a M2HB 12.7 mm heavy machine gun . The vehicle also possesses smoke grenade launchers located on the remote weapon system. The TAPV can handle water (fording) depth up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) but

342-602: Is an Italian multinational transport vehicle manufacturing company with headquarters in Turin , Italy. It designs and builds light, medium, and heavy commercial vehicles . The name IVECO first appeared in 1975 after a merger of Italian, French, and German brands. Its production plants are in Europe, China, Russia, Australia and Latin America and it has about 5,000 sales and service outlets in over 160 countries. The worldwide output of

380-680: Is based on the Mamba APC of TFM Industries. The RG-31 has become the multi-purpose vehicle of choice of the UN and other peacekeeping and security forces. It is finding favour with non-governmental organisations requiring a vehicle with a non-aggressive appearance to protect their personnel against land mines . The RG-31 is based on a UNIMOG chassis. It is built from a V-shaped all-steel welded armor monocoque hull and high suspension, typical of South African mine protected vehicles, providing excellent small-arms and mine blast protection. The vehicle

418-530: Is designed to resist a blast equivalent to two TM-57 anti-tank mines detonating simultaneously. The RG-31 is classified by the United States Department of Defense as a category 1 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. The vehicle accommodates a crew ranging from 5 to 10 depending on mission needs, depending on model. Dismounting is provided via a large air actuated rear door and two front doors, also air actuated. In July 2016,

532-467: Is then heated in a heat exchanger so that once it reaches the engine it is a gas. Also, the noise emitted decreases by 3 to 6 decibels over an analogous diesel engine vehicle. Iveco created the first prototype of a bifuel , diesel and ethanol -run vehicle. The technology was developed by Iveco together with FPT Industrial and Bosch . The prototype uses a Trakker truck with Common Rail Cursor 9 engine with 360 HP that may be powered by

The fleet will be distributed across seven bases. The first operational exposure for the TAPV fleet was in early May 2017 when a task force from 2nd Canadian Division from Canadian Forces Base Valcartier deployed on Operation LENTUS to assist flooded communities in Quebec. The TAPV and LAV VI family of armoured vehicles were featured in

722-644: The Eurocargo Ibrido, a commercial vehicle for the European market with electri-diesel parallel propulsion for distributing and collecting goods in city centres. The payload capacity decreases by 200 kg in comparison to diesel-engine models, but it is possible to save up to 30% on the urban cycle. 836-493: The Stralis LNG. As opposed to vehicles with compressed natural gas (CNG) technology, liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology takes the vehicle farther on a full tank (up to 750 km) and reduces the vehicle's tare thus increasing the load. The main difference between the two technologies lies in the type of natural gas storage employed, which in this case is kept in a liquid state at −161 °C in cryogenic tanks; it
