785-477: A basic package and a carriage fee of $ 0.61 per subscriber. Time Warner Cable and other major cable providers wished to place it on a sports tier. Cable companies felt that a channel with such marginal interest, few live games, and filler programming, would be tough to sell outside of the football season. In February 2008, The Wall Street Journal reported that the NFL had been in discussion with Disney executives over

942-591: A berth in the Bowl Championship Series . The NFL denied that request and would only offer the free preview if Cablevision and/or Time Warner Cable made the entire preview week available to customers. TWC then offered to carry the free preview on a digital tier. Cablevision, however, continued to refuse to carry any NFL Network programming other than the Texas Bowl. It even announced that Cablevision would put it on channel 14 (normally occupied by

1099-429: A brief introduction of the day, highlighting key developing stories, as teams are typically already lining up for opening kickoff. Similarly, he will not wash his hands on returning to decent society from private places, as the reason for his washing will arouse disagreeable thoughts in people.” Historian Lawrence Stone contends that the development of these new behaviours had nothing to do with problems of hygiene and bacterial infection, but rather with conforming to increasingly artificial standards of gentlemanly behaviour. These standards were internalized at an early age. Over time, much that had to be explained earlier

While some public facilities were available to females in London by 1890, there were much fewer than those available to males. Toilets also were assigned strong moral overtones. While public water closets were considered necessary for sanitation reasons, they were viewed as offending public sensibilities. If that were

11304-410: The NFL insisted that the CFL move its schedule over a month earlier than it currently runs, so that the network can use the league to fill air time between the NFL draft and training camp . As such a change would require a rework of the league's collective bargaining agreement, it was unable to fulfill that request and instead renewed its agreement with ESPN. On January 31, 2019, NFL Network signed

It is not unusual for RedZone to switch between two or more games in quick succession, even between individual plays. Despite an effort made by producers to air all touchdowns live , some scoring plays are actually aired after

One source of criticism stems from RedZone potentially drawing viewers away from the traditional broadcasts on CBS and Fox , and likewise devaluing the commercial values for advertisers. In the 2021 NFL season , when Fox had 100% national coverage for the two late games during Week 3,

Until 2018, due to contractual obligations, RedZone was required to sign off no later than 8:00 p.m., even if a late afternoon game(s) was still in progress; this was due to avoid a conflict with NBC's Sunday night game broadcast. This was rectified in the 2019 season, such that any game that ends after 8:00 p.m. would continue airing on RedZone until its conclusion, provided that there

The Ladies Rest Room is one example of the non-euphemistic use of the term: literally, a place to rest. Historically such rooms pre-dated the washroom and washrooms were added afterwards. Subsequent integrated designs resulted in the "women's restroom lounge". A notable early example of

Some complaints deal with viewers not seeing equal coverage of all games across the league, the inability to see outstanding defensive team performances (outside of defensive scores), and emphasis on individual players instead of teams. Games in

14130-463: The entire free preview schedule. Time Warner had made a similar announcement only hours earlier. Suddenlink agreed on December 22 to carry the entire free preview for their customers in West Texas.
