The Gaspé Peninsula , also known as Gaspesia ( French : Gaspésie , [ɡaspezi] ; Mi'kmaq : Gespe'gewa'ki ), is a peninsula along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River that extends from the Matapedia Valley in Quebec , Canada, into the Gulf of St. Lawrence .
